A woman carrying a basket of fruit on her head and three children watching her from a house.

Ka letsatsi lengwe, mme a amogela maungo a mantsi.

One day, mama got a lot of fruit.

”’Re kgona go ja leng maungo ?”ra botsa.”Re tla ja maungo maitsiboa,”go bua mme.

“When can we have some fruit?” we ask. “We will have the fruit tonight,” says mama.


A boy eating lots of fruit.

Nnake Rahim o bogagapa. O lekile maungo fela otlhe. O jele bontsi jwa ona.

My brother Rahim is greedy. He tastes all the fruit. He eats a lot of it.

”Bonang gore Rahim o dirile eng!”ga goa nnake yo mmotlana.”Rahim o tshwenye le bogagapa,”Go bua nna.

“Look at what Rahim did!” shouts my little brother. “Rahim is naughty and selfish,” I say.

Mother is angry with Rahim.

We are also angry with Rahim. But Rahim is not sorry.

“Aren’t you going to punish Rahim?” asks little brother.

“Rahim, soon you will be sorry,” warns mama.

Rahim a simolola go ikutlwa go bobola.

Rahim starts to feel sick.

“My tummy is so sore,” whispers Rahim.

Mama knew this would happen. The fruit is punishing Rahim!

Kwa morago,Rahim a ikopela boitshwarelo mo go rona.”Ga nkitla ke tlhola ke nna bogagapa gape,”a re itshepisa. Mme rotlhe ra mo dumela.

Later, Rahim says sorry to us. “I will never be so greedy again,” he promises. And we all believe him.
