A girl watching boys play soccer.

Andiswa gha rorere hangaghu hapepire pari ghokuthita. Aye gha rumbere kukupakera nawo mukupepa. Aye gha rombire kwa mukuru ghothipani ngeshi kukona gha gha kudeghure nawo.

Andiswa watched the boys play soccer. She wished that she could join them. She asked the coach if she can practise with them.

Mukuru ghothipani gha turire moko ghendi mumbunda. “Opano pashure ne, hangaghu ngenyu ha tawedhera kupepa pari ghokuthita,” gha ghambire.

The coach put his hands on his hips. “At this school, only boys are allowed to play soccer,” he said.

Hangaghu ha mutongwere eshi gha ka pepe pari ghokuyanga. Awo haghambire eshi pari ghokuyanga ne wa hashengeteya no pari ghokuthita ne wahangaghu.

The boys told her to go play netball. They said that netball is for girls and soccer is for boys. Andiswa was upset.

Diyuwa dyo kurandako, shure dha karire no mutangu ghoghukuru ghopari ghokuthita. Mukuru ghothipani gha kudhekere yoyishi mupepi wendi ghumweya yu gha kurupere ne ghakorwire no mbadi gha konine kupepa.

The next day, the school had a big soccer match. The coach was worried because his best player was sick and could not play.

Andiswa gha tjirere kwa mukuru ghothipani no kamukanderera eshi gha pepe. Mukuru ghothipani mbadi gha dimukire eyi sho gha tende. Munyima po gha tokore eshi Andiswa kukona ghangene muthipani.

Andiswa ran to the coach and begged him to let her to play. The coach was not sure what to do. Then he decided that Andiswa could join the team.

Mutangu wakarire ghukukutu. Mbadiko owa hangenekere paruvedhe ro dihenda.

The game was tough. Nobody had scored a goal by half time.

Mudihenda dyo ghuwadi mumutangu mungaghu ghumwe gha tapire pari kwaAndisa. Gha tjirere wangu pepi do dipale. Gha thitire pari nongcamu no gha ngenekire.

During the second half of the match one of the boys passed the ball to Andiswa. She moved very fast towards the goal post. She kicked the ball hard and scored a goal.

Mbunga dha kugherire kuyishamberera. Kutunda diyuwa diya, hakamadighana nawo ha watawedhere kupepa pari gho kuthita pa shure.

The crowd went wild with joy. Since that day, girls were also allowed to play soccer at the school.
