Minha aldeia tinha muitos problemas. Nós fazíamos uma fila bem longa para buscar água de uma torneira.

My village had many problems. We made a long line to fetch water from one tap.


A line of people waiting for food donations.

Esperávamos comida doada pelos outros.

We waited for food donated by others.


A woman locking her front door.

Trancávamos nossas casas cedo por causa dos ladrões.

We locked our houses early because of thieves.

Muitas crianças abandonaram a escola.

Many children dropped out of school.

Uma mulher disse, “As mulheres podem se juntar a mim para plantar.”

One woman said, “The women can join me to grow food.”

Um outro homem levantou-se e disse, “Os homens cavarão um poço.”

Another man stood up and said, “The men will dig a well.”

Nós todos gritamos em uma única voz, “Precisamos mudar nossas vidas.” Daquele dia em diante nós trabalhamos juntos para resolver nossos problemas.

We all shouted with one voice, “We must change our lives.” From that day we worked together to solve our problems.
